Press Release: CSRC Applauds Rep. Collin Peterson’s Reelection Bid

“Congressman Peterson is the Independent Voice We Need in DC”

March 6, 2020 – Today Rep. Collin Peterson announced that he is seeking re-election to Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District, immediately earning a promise from the Committee for Stronger Rural Committees to support his bid.

Rep. Collin Peterson’s chairmanship of the House Agriculture Committee and his pragmatic, bi-partisan legislative record make him a critical voice for the rural families and communities of Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District. Rep. Peterson has consistently demonstrated independent and measured leadership, putting his constituents before party politics.

“Congressman Peterson is the independent and effective voice we need in Washington for the 7th Congressional District. He is the best-equipped and best-positioned to deliver for our families, our veterans, our businesses and our farms,” said Kelly Erickson, steering committee chairman of CSRC.

Erickson cited Rep. Peterson’s leadership on the USMCA, Peterson’s bipartisan effort to secure disaster assistance for farmers, his position as Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, and efforts to deliver better health care, including initiatives to win federal funds to build veterans’ centers in Bemidji and Montevideo.

“We’re working for Rep. Peterson’s reelection because he always puts the 7th Congressional District and our families first,” Erickson said. “We need serious people in DC, people who can put aside politics for the sake of getting things done, and that’s Collin Peterson.”
