Congressman Collin Peterson's Leadership - On the Issues: Veterans

Congressman Collin Peterson (D-MN-07) is a member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs and is the Co-Chair of the Congressional Rural Veterans Caucus. Throughout his time in Washington Congressman Peterson has kept the veteran community’s needs at the forefront of his policies and work. Being a veteran himself, he understands their justified concerns regarding accessibility and the cost of healthcare.

As a member of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee Congressman Peterson advocates for the Bemidji and Montevideo veterans home proposals as their applications make their way through the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Recently he co-sponsored the Improving Confidence in Veterans’ Care Act and the VA Billing Accountability Act, both are bi-partisan bills that would, respectively, introduce better training to the medical providers of the VA and protect veterans from unfair or accidental medical expenses. Additionally, Congressman Peterson has also co-sponsored the Improving Oversight of Women Veterans’ Care Act of 2019, which would enable the VA to better serve our women veterans who desperately need medical help.

Congressman Peterson understands the sacrifices our men and women have made for our nation’s defense, and he’ll continue fighting until they receive the very best healthcare and medical services they deserve.
