CSRC Rural Report Card: Rep. Peterson = Pro-Business, Pro-Jobs
Oct. 2, 2020 – The Committee for Stronger Rural Communities released the second installment of its Rural Report Card series, focusing on the bipartisan, pro-business and job growth record of Rep. Collin Peterson.
The CSRC Small Business Rural Report Card concludes that Peterson, who was a Certified Public Accountant and small business owner when he entered public service, has won important legislative battles on behalf of small businesses in MN-07. His record of accomplishment includes efforts to simplify the tax code, draw major public works projects to the district to support job growth, support fair and stronger trade opportunities, and investment in critical infrastructure such as broadband and the critical Line 3 pipeline project.
“Collin Peterson is a businessman, and he supports growing our businesses here in the 7th Congressional District, because that grows jobs. Collin Peterson is the only one in this race who can point to a pro-business record of job growth,” said Kelly Erickson, chairman of the CSRC Steering Committee. “I’m a sugar beet farmer. I haul my beets to our plant in Drayton, a town with 800 people. A lot of those folks work at the plant, in good-paying jobs. Collin Peterson has fought for those jobs, by working for fair trade, smart farm bills, critical infrastructure and a simpler tax code. Collin Peterson is the 7th District’s pro-business champion in Congress, and he deserves our vote.”
In June, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce presented Peterson with its prestigious Jefferson-Hamilton Award, one of only three lawmakers to receive the award, in recognition of his bipartisan, pro-business record. In August, the Chamber awarded Peterson with its Spirit of Enterprise award, citing his consistent record of supporting pro-growth, pro-business, job-creating policies. He has been honored by the Chamber every year he has served in Congress.
