Press Release: Peterson Takes the “Bull by the Horns” on Meatpacking Safety

CSRC Launches District-Wide Radio Buy Lauding Peterson Leadership

May 12, 2020 – The Committee for Stronger Rural Communities (CSRC) is going on the air with a two-week, district-wide radio ad highlighting Rep. Collin Peterson’s leadership in addressing COVID19’s decimation of the meatpacking industry – a move Peterson made to protect workers, help save jobs, and support a market for Minnesota’s hog farmers.

The 60-second ad, “Bull by the Horns,” airs across the district May 12 through May 25. Kelly Erickson, steering committee chair of CSRC, said the committee intends to make additional media buys as the election nears.

“We’re proud of Congressman Peterson because he took the bull by the horns. He’s working on what is probably one of the most important issues you can imagine – how to protect people, jobs and ag markets when a viral pandemic hits our community,” said Kelly Erickson, steering committee chair of CSRC. “We know that Collin is effective and fights for all of us here in Minnesota’s 7th District. He knows farming. He knows what business needs. He knows what working people are going through. This spot reminds people that no matter how big the problem, you can trust Collin to take that bull by the horns.”

The spot focuses on Rep. Peterson’s April 29 announcement in Worthington, Minn., that he is establishing a local task force to address how to re-open a JBS meatpacking plant where more than 500 workers tested positive for COVID19.
